Joseph Peck has been teaching, performing, and producing music and educational programs with a primary focus on percussion and Caribbean steel drum instruments for over 19 years. He attended Wichita State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Joseph currently is a teaching artist faculty member with The Music Center, a performing artist with the County of Los Angeles Library and City of Los Angeles Library, a program facilitator for Drumming for Your Life Institute, and a recording artist. Through hands-on activities, Joseph teaches kids and adults alike basic hand and stick techniques for steel drums and other percussion instruments that make up a “carnival engine room”. Workshop participants gain skills that enable them to creatively express themselves through musical performance, and of course, have fun! Joseph’s classes and workshops are designed to lead students on a musical journey that nurtures their ability to live more musically.
